The Gift of Organ Donation
Jacob sustained a traumatic brain injury in an auto accident on April 2, 2016. The next day we learned that Jacob would not be coming home with us. Organ donation was not even a question, we all agreed that it was the right thing to do and felt that it would be something that Jacob would have wanted. We immediately asked if Jacob would be a candidate.
It was April 5th 2016 when a team of medical professionals joint together to recover Jacob’s organs for transplant.
Through our tragedy and Jacob’s gift, three families were given a new hope for life and a reprieve from the agony and grief of losing a loved one. This hope, and the fact that a part of Jacob lives on in others, gives us peace and comfort.
